Colorado is such a gorgeous state for a mountain wedding! This charming couple chose Golden Colorado for their wedding festivities. I didn’t find out until the Father of the bride presented a surprise video at this lavish and romantic wedding, that the happy couple had been childhood friends and then sweethearts. The bride wanted a formal, elegant and rather traditional vibe with soft, feminine colors of ivory, blush and gold. However, we added a touch of fun with whimsical chalkboard signs, gold wood signs and tissue paper tassel garlands.
The wedding ceremony took place at the lovely Calvary Episcopal Church in Golden Colorado. Simple ivory tulle with with gold-framed signs reserved the front rows for the family. The entrance to the church was decorated by Pink Posey Design with fresh eucalyptus garland and flower be-decked lanterns. After the ceremony the lanterns and garland were relocated to the reception venue.
How cute is this? Ringing the church bell after the ceremony is a very sweet tradition at this church.
Guests were welcomed to the reception venue with a sandwich chalkboard and monogrammed boxwood wreaths on the door.
I used my trusty Bistro Chalk Markers on this chalkboard design.
Traditional guest books are out the window these days. For this wedding I designed “Well Wishes” cards for the guests to fill out. I embellished the card stock by punching the edges with a Martha Stewart Around the Page Punch. Then I “bedazzled” a thrift store mirror with pearl stickers to clue guests in on what to do with the pretty cards.
I am a BIG fan of Martha Stewart products, especially the punches and paper craft tools. For the well wisher cards I used my Martha Stewart Around the Page Punch. It worked great and made customizing the cards a breeze. I’m sure you’ll think of many other ways to use these fabulous punches. When I’m designing a wedding or party I use my Fiskers Euro Paper Trimmer multiple times in a day. Most of the time I can’t purchase what I need in the size that I need, so I do a LOT of paper trimming!

Here’s a great idea to go along with bar during cocktail hour… a yummy nut bar! The nuts were a huge hit and helped to offset the alcohol intake before the passed hors d’oeuvres. Guests filled custom printed paper sacks with the delicious snack.
Take a peek at the very cute chalkboard sign. I like to use chalk markers for the text so that the design doesn’t smudge before the event. Joann.com carries these Bistro Chalk Marker Sets that I like to use.
I swathed the windows with yards and yards of ivory organza to create a romantic effect without detracting from the glorious view out the windows. Pink up-lighting added to the romantic ambiance.
The wedding cake was divine. I placed the cake in front of a custom ribbon backdrop which is a pretty economical way to style the cake table. I just love the plaster style frosting and the addition of a gold cake topper and a few blooms were just the right details to complete the look. Imprinted Sweetheart Forks with Cake Server were a whimsical addition.
The centerpieces were exquisite and lavish… a combination of tall and short filling the room with blush and ivory floral artistry. Pink Posey Design did an amazing job!
Other details that made this wedding so lovely with a dose of fun were menu cards slipped into each napkin, custom designed escort cards and table numbers, lush premium linens from Cloth Connection, bride and groom signs on the chair backs at the Sweetheart table, yummy caramel apple favors placed at each setting, tissue tassel garlands, candlelight in mercury glass holders and lovely lanterns.
